APRIL 2024

Epic Mini: “The Triple Crown”

EPIC CAMP MINI

“The Triple Crown”

We’re planning a Mini camp next April in Queenstown, New Zealand. The focus for the camp will be completing the Triple Crown of mountain climbs which is arguably the hardest single day ride in New Zealand.

Climb #1 is the taster for the day up the Coronet Peak access road (8.2km @ 8.6%). A short recovery past Arrowntown then up the Crown Range, 10.8km @ 6.3% (much steeper than the average grade indicates as there is a long gentle section in the middle), over the other side to the Cardrona Pub and back up the Crown Range. The final ascent is the brutal climb up "The Remarkables" Ski-field access road (9.7km @ 9.5km) with the obligatory run to the top ~3km when the sealed road finishes. All up the ride will be ~150km with ~3500m elevation across the day.

As well as the BIG day the camp would include a warm up ride to Glenorchy return which is a real cracker along with a couple of stunning trail runs such as the 17km Moke Lake to Arthurs Point trail (plus mountain bike rides if time).
