Epic Camp: New Zealand 2004, 19-30 January

Camp Date: 19-30 January, 2004

Start / finish: Aukland, New Zealand

Cost: US$2,500 – Includes everything but Mercy

  • Airport pick-up and drop-off at Aukland International Airport
  • Twin share accommodation from Sunday, 18 January to Saturday, 30 January (13 nights)
  • All meals from the welcome dinner on Sunday the 18th to your final breakfast on Saturday the 30th (38 meals)
  • Entry fee for the Aukland Half Ironman

Schedule:
The overall goal for this Epic Camp is a massive, bike oriented, base training camp. The Epic Crew will be encouraged to work together – for the most part!

18 January: Arrival in Auckland.

19 January: Swim Auckland. Ride Thames (about 115K). Ride Coromandel (about 58K). Run.

20 January: Ride Colville (about 25K). Mtn Bike on Gravel Road (15K?) to Mt Moehau Western Trail Head. Run Mt Moehau (892m) descend to Stony Bay. Mtn Bike on Gravel Road (25K) back to Colville. Ride Coromandel (about 25K).

22 January: Swim Coromandel. Ride Whitianga (44K). Run Whitianga.

23 January: Swim Tauranga. Ride Rotorua (83K). Run Rotorua (Blue Lakes or Redwood Forest).

24 January: Swim Rotorua (Pool or Blue Lakes). To Auckland. Spin/Run Auckland.

25 January: Auckland Half Ironman. To Rotorua.

26 January: Swim Rotorua. Ride Taupo (90K or so). Run Taupo.

27 January: Swim Taupo. Ride around the Lake (160K). Run Huka Track.

28 January: Swim Taupo. Ride Chateau HILLS! (110K). Run Chateau.

29 January: Open Water Swim, Lake Rotoaira. Mountain Run in Tongariro Park. Weather Permitting – Ketetahi Track returning to Chateau via Red Crater, bail out option at Mangatepopo.

20 January: Return Taupo -- South via Desert Rd (170K). It’s ALL over!.
